FUNK YEAH!

What do a bunch of seasoned musicians do when they are not touring with their bands? Create a 70s funk band of course! The band has a solid pedigree of national touring experience. Tommy Bowes (lead vocals) was the lead singer for Tower of Power for 7 years and was also in Blood, Sweat & Tears. Tom Timko (sax) has played with Blood Sweat & Tears, Toto, Aaron Neville and Gloria Estefan. Dave Gellis (lead guitar) was in Blood Sweat & Tears for over 20 years, along with playing lead guitar with Meat Loaf. Jeff Gellis (bass) was also in Blood Sweat & Tears, as well as multiple top regional tribute bands and well known NYC musicians. Rounding out the band are 2 local Maplewood musicians (Lee Finkelstein – drums, Dave Pressel – keys). Lee has been the drummer for The Blues Brothers for over 15 years and has played with Blood Sweat & Tears as well as Tower of Power. Dave has played keys with Gil Parris and Bernie Williams. Funk Yeah! has quickly built a very dedicated following, and was fortunate to have been one of the headliners at Maplewoodstock 2022 this past summer, closing out the opening night as the featured act to a packed house of thousands of people with everyone dancing and getting their groove on!
